This presentation provides an introductory-level explanation of the Model View ViewModel (MVVM) design pattern. Key points of this presentation include defining each component of MVVM and how they are commonly used in the design pattern. Implementation of MVVM in Microsoft Silverlight and WPF is briefly discussed as well, covering the concepts of Binding and Commanding in each respective framework. Pros and cons of MVVM versus non-MVVM are mentioned also, with the primary focus of unit testing and developer/designer responsibility. At the end of the presentation a quick Silverlight demo is provided, showcasing a non-MVVM approach to a Silverlight control versus an MVVM approach which uses Binding and Commanding.
